IBM creates new supercomputer with Cell processor
[in simple terms] IBM has crafted yet another supercomputer, codenamed Roadrunner, which runs at a record-setting petaflop speed."We are getting closer to simulating the real world," Bijan Davari, vice president of next generation computing systems at IBM.The Roadrunner will use less than 20,000 chips, and will use a hybrid design of both conventional supercomputer chips, and PS3's Cell processor.
hybrid design with 12,960 IBM PowerXCell 8i and 6,480 AMD Opteron dual-core processors in specially designed blade servers connected by Infiniband. The Roadrunner uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux along with Fedora.Roadrunner occupies approximately 560 square metres (6,000 sq ft).
Currently the world's third fastest computer, the US$133-million Roadrunner is designed for a peak performance of 1.7 petaflops, achieving 1.026 on May 25, 2008

The NEED for NEED FOR SPEED : back in HOT PURSUIT
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is in development by Criterion Games and published by EA for PS-3, Xbox 360 and PC. Hot Pursuit goes back earlier "Hot Pursuit"-titles in the Need for Speed franchise with exotic cars and high-speed police chases.
Hot Pursuit also features a new social interaction system called "Autolog" described as "Facebook for the game". Other features include the player being able to add custom soundtracks to the game.
The driving model of the game is described as "fun and accessible".
Hot Pursuit was well received by critics at E3 2010 and was most notably awarded with Game Critics Awards' "Best Racing Game", as well as several other "Best of E3"-awards including "Best Racing Game" from both IGN and 1UP. Other games in the category included Gran Turismo 5, Test Drive Unlimited 2 and MotorStorm: Apocalypse
